Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need therapy?
If something feels persistently difficult emotionally, relationally, or internally and it’s impacting your quality of life, therapy can be a space to explore that. It doesn’t have to be a “serious problem” to begin.

Do you offer an introductory call?

Yes, I offer a short audio call that serves as an introduction for both client and therapist. It is designed to help both of us understand your therapy needs and if we are a good fit. There is also space for you to ask questions regarding the process of therapy.

What happens in the first session?
The first session usually involves understanding what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, and some background. It also helps us set some goals and expectations for the next few sessions.

Is everything I share confidential?
Yes, confidentiality is a core part of therapy. The only exceptions are situations involving risk of harm to self or others, or when required by law (as mentioned in the guidelines & policies shared at the time of intake).

Do you offer online sessions?
Yes, my sessions are completely online and are conducted via secure video platforms, making therapy accessible across cities and time zones.

How long is each session and how often do we meet?
Sessions are usually around 50 minutes. A weekly session frequency is recommended for the initial phase of therapy, though this can be adjusted based on your needs and goals.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
The cancellation window is within 24 hours of the session. Late cancellations or missed sessions are charged at the rate of the session.

Do you prescribe medication?
No, I do not prescribe medication. If medication support is needed, I may refer you to a psychiatrist for evaluation.

How long does therapy take to work?
There is no fixed timeline. Some concerns may take a few sessions, while others involve longer-term work. Our progress depends on your goals, the nature of your concerns, and the pace that feels right for you.

What if I’m not sure the therapist is the right fit for me?
This uncertainty is welcome in therapy. I encourage you to bring it into the conversation, and you are always free to seek a different therapist if something doesn’t feel aligned. Since finding the right fit is an important part of the process, if things don’t work out, I am able to refer you to another professional.

Can I stop therapy at any time?
Yes, you are free to end therapy whenever you choose. However, it is helpful to discuss this decision within sessions so there can be some closure and reflection.
